We're excited for the plans this year and invite you to exhibit your boats, engines and motors along the shoreline of Skaneateles Lake, in the heart of the village with the same name.

This event begins with most craft launching and land exhibits installing on Friday, July 26, concluding on Sunday afternoon.   It is a judged show (judging is optional), and esteemed as a part of the boat's pedigree.  The annual award banquet is on Saturday evening.

Throughout the weekend we'll have boat parades and cruise opportunities, music in the park and more.

Please read through the attached Invitation and then Register for the show on pages 7 and 8.  The forms are fillable on your computer or tablet and then can be emailed back or simply printed, filled out by hand and returned by mail.   Printed forms are available upon request or at the Skaneateles Chamber of Commerce office, 22 Jordan Street, Skaneateles.

We look forward to seeing you at this popular and favorite event in the Finger Lakes.

New Award

The 2024 FLC Boat Show will feature a new award this year.  This award, Best Staging of an in-water display as well as a separate award for Best Staging of a land display will be based on overall appearance,  best use of flowers, ancillary decorations and dockside appeal.  As with FLC Award Policy,  a boat may not be awarded the same award two years in row, per FLC tradition and common practice.

The judging will be done by members of the Skaneateles Chamber of Commerce Foundation board and will take place Saturday morning at about 10:00am.   Results will be announced and posted in early afternoon.

FLC Spring Outing

The FLC-ACBS is having a spring outing at FLYWHEELS FOREVER on Saturday, June 1st, from 11AM-
3PM. Steve will have his collection of engines - 100's of outboards, inboards, steam, and more, with some running for show! Additionally, if the truckers deliver on schedule, we should have a Skaneateles 1916 historic
boat at the picnic! The FLC chapter would also like to extend the invitation to anyone in our nearby chapters
including Wine Country, Niagara Frontier, Adirondack, Thousand Islands, Harvey’s Lake and Lake Hopatcong.
Additionally, Peter Hunn, who has written 6 books on outboard motors, will be giving 3 short 10-15 minute
talks about First year (1940) Mercury outboards, Marine engine builders of the greater Syracuse area (1900-
1920’s) and Do-It-Yourself boats designed by William D. Jackson (father of the minimax).
Few baby boomers asked for a battered 1928 Johnson outboard for their tenth birthday, but as a proud owner
of a Sears Elgin plywood rowboat, Peter Hunn envisioned its potential beyond oars. So, in 1963, he decided to
make such a request of his bewildered parents. Hunn admits the old motor topped his gift list primarily
because, at $15, it was a lot cheaper than the new Mercury 6 hp he’d hinted about unsuccessfully the year
before. That little Johnson model A-35 turned out to spark Hunn’s lifelong fascination with vintage outboards
and served as a starting point for a collection of old kickers and the authoring of several publications on the
subject, including three editions of the old outboard book. A recently retired high school administrator and
former owner of several local radio stations for over 25 years, Hunn also taught broadcasting courses at the
State University of New York at Oswego. He and his wife Carol, live in a riparian home in Fulton, NY.
Wafting over the little dock in their front yard, sounds of old outboards can often be heard.
Complimentary soft drinks, tea, lemonade and water will be available and a delicious lunch will also be
available for $10. Peppino’s will be putting on the lunch again this year of BBQ Ribs, Pulled Pork, grilled
chicken kabobs, BBQ baked beans, mac & cheese and tomato & cucumber salad.
The address is 2361 East Lake Road, Skaneateles, NY 13152, which is 4.7 miles down East Lake Road from
Route 20. Look for a long driveway just before Steve's mailbox and before the 55 MPH speed sign. Also look
for the sign saying "Welcome ACBS".
There is plenty of parking, but for those wishing to meet in Skaneateles and carpool, you could meet at Austin
Park, 1 E. Austin Street. There is no boat docking availability. We look forward to seeing many of you at
Steve's Engine Museum June 1st.

Please respond to Paul Garrett at pgarrett5@hotmail.com or call or text to (315) 622-8339 by May 18th, so
Peppino’s can insure there is enough for all.
